The FMHC debating Society of FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry hosted the 6thAnnual Lahore Debating Gala, the event featured parliamentary debates , declamation competition and Mushaira Competition. The aim of the gala was to bring talented individuals of premier institutions from across Lahore and across Pakistan in a battle of oratory skills. The Lahore Debating Gala consisted of 30 institutes from across Punjab which includes major debating societies from GCU, FCCU, LUMS, King Edward Medical University, UET, AMC,Dera Ghazi khan medical college, Allama Iqbal Medical College, SIMS and Punjab University. The Lahore Debating Gala was held over a period of three days and comprised of three events which were the Parliamentary held of saturday, 4th of March 2017, the Declamation held on Monday, 6th of March 2017 & Mushaira Competition took place on Tuesday 7th of March 2017. The Lahore Debating Gala consisting of 20 teams for Parliamentary, 18 teams of Declamation and 14 teams for the Mushaira competition. The winner of the Parliamentary debates was Ameer udin medical college and runners up were Forman Christian College University. The best speaker was Omer Ilyas from UOL and novice award was from Lahore Grammar School 1A1 Branch. The Declamation Team trophy went to King Edward Medical University ,the winning team consisted of Tehreem Raza and Shamayel Safdar. The winner of the Mushaira Competition was the team from GCU; and the team consisted of M.Ali Zahir and USama Zoraiz. The judges for the declamation were Mr.Fahad Waseem, Mr. Ahmed Chaudhry Ali Arshad,Mr. Adnan Mohsin , and Prof.Dr Latif Aftab. The adjudication panel for the parliamentary debates consisted of Abas Azmat ,Zainab Shahid and Asad Javed. The Lahore Debating Gala 2017 was organized by Patron-in-Chief, Prof. Rakhshanda Rehman, Staff President, Prof. Dr. Saba Khalid, Osheen Fatima-President, Mariam Tariq Awana – Vice President, Fahd Asif-General Secretary and members of the FMHC Debating Society. The FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry started at the dawn of new millennium in the year 2000 and is a key component of the Fatima Memorial System and believes in “Educating, training & inspiring young people in the science of healing and the art of communication”.
