The Department of Community Health Sciences of FMH College of Medicine and 4th year MBBS students celebrated the International Child hood cancer day in collaboration with Institute of Child Health. The department of Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Medical Lab Technology, Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology of NUR-FMS were also part of the event. International Childhood Cancer Day is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer, and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors and their families. The day helped students in understanding of the issues and challenges relevant to childhood cancer. The students interacted with the cancer patients. They were involved in face painting and different sports activities. A health education awareness campaign, regarding prevention of common infections was carried through the distribution of IEC material. Visitors and parents were counselled about the early sign and symptoms and warning sign of childhood cancers. Over all, it was a great learning opportunity for students and faculty both.
